The bus stop reunion between Barret and Benjamin yesterday was interesting. Both boys were so excited in the days leading up to their reunion that neither could get to sleep very well. According to Benjamin the night before we left Houston, "I'm 300 times more exciteder". So, when they actually saw each other, they weren't sure what to do. It took them only a couple of minutes before they were off running and playing.
We went with Barret and his family to the American Club for dinner. By this time, the Georgsons were pretty tired. Abby fell asleep on the cab ride to the ACC, slept through dinner, playtime and the cab ride back to our hotel. She woke up just in time to go to our room....and just when we were ready to go to bed. Barret took care of ordering dinner for us - he has grown up so much! Finally, at 7pm, we had to go home. The Glass family put us in a cab and thought they were sending us home. Unfortunately, the receptionist who wrote down our hotel address to give to the cab driver wrote it down wrong. Two mistakes - one made by the receptionist and one by Susan. The receptionist sent us to a different Section of Zhong Chan North Rd, and I remembered the lane wrong - 278 instead of 728. When we got to the wrong section, the cab driver (who THANKFULLY spoke some English) asked if we were "Section 3". We said "No - section 6". He said: "Six?" We said: "Yes, six." He said "Six? You sure?" Finally, I thought to say "Taipei American School". If we could get there, we could get home. And, thank God, I finally found the business card to our hotel. The cab driver then took us to Lane 278. But, when we turned onto Lane 278 - there was no Feeling Hotel. Looking at the address on the business card one more time, we finally made it to Lane 728. When Bryon and Susan finally recognized where we needed to turn, there was a yelling "here, here" and pointing to the right. We turn and there it is: our hotel. Everyone, including the cab driver, cheered. We were home. Now, everyone in our family carries a business card to the Feeling Hotel. :)
Bryon and Susan crawl into bed at 7:40pm as the kids stay up playing. Bryon is asleep in 10 minutes. At 8:45pm, Susan corrals the kids into bed and it's lights out. At least until 2 in the morning, when we are all awake. The lights go on, a movie is put into the computer. The kids watch Stripes, Bryon works on a puzzle book, and Susan reads. By 5am, we are all back asleep for a few more hours.
Today, we got a slow start. We met up with Cassia, Barret and Caroline at the Taipei American School. We played on the playground and the sandbox. Benjamin got to see Barret's class through the glass window. Then, it was off to the cafeteria for a slice of pizza, a drink and a cookie. We're now back at the Glass's apartment. Benjamin and Barret are playing PS2, and Abby and Caroline are laying down for a nap.
We are on our own for this afternoon and tomorrow morning. Cassia and McLeod have a fundraising dinner to go to in town. Included in our plans for this afternoon are a trip to the drug store and the grocery store. More about that experience tomorrow.
Today's weather was much better. We actually saw some blue sky this morning, but it has been overcast the rest of the day.
